Are you thinking of visiting Exmouth? Do you want to enjoy a camping type experience in Exmouth but don’t have all the gear to do it or aren’t fond of traditional camping? Then you’re in the right place because I have found a very unique experience that gives you the best of both worlds.

Unlike traditional glamping that is usually in a tent with some added creature comforts, the team at Unplug Rentals have taken it to the next level with caravans and camper trailers for hire that they set up AND pack up for you meaning you don’t have to lift a finger.

They are a locally run family business based in Exmouth that allows visitors to the region to hire out their camper trailers and caravans and have a glamping experience of their own. I made my reservation through Air BnB but bookings can also be made directly through Unplug Rentals.

The caravan I stayed in was an Avan Aspire 555 pop-top caravan (Vantasea) and at only 12 months old, it is relatively new in their fleet. The caravan was spacious, immaculately maintained and is equipped with everything you could possibly need for a stay in the region.

The caravan sleeps a maximum 4 people and is equipped with a super comfortable double bed and two bunk beds. All linen and towels, including bathroom towels, face towels and beach towels are provided.

The caravan is equipped with a full kitchenette that has a 4 plate cook top, a microwave, fridge/freezer and range hood. All utensils, crockery and cutlery are provided as well as a basic pantry that consists of oats, flour, pasta, olive oil, tea, coffee, weetbix, sugar, salt/pepper, dish washing liquid, hand soap, paper towel and toilet paper. The Unplug team even provide 10 litres of fresh reverse osmosis filtered drinking water for your stay! I really mean it when I say you don’t need to bring a thing!

The caravan has small fans fitted to each side of the bed for warmer days and nights as well as air conditioning. The pop-top section of the roof has extra window openings that allows for more ventilation which is very much welcomed on warmer days and nights. The entry door to the caravan has a fly screen and the windows have block out blinds. The windows are also double glazed which helps to maintain the temperature and also means there is minimum disruption from the wind and/or neighbours during the night.

The outside of the caravan is fitted with an awning and the Unplug team also provide camp chairs, a table, a clothes line and even insect repellent coils! The side of the caravan is fitted with an outdoor shower which I used for rinsing my feet and snorkel upon returning from the beach.

So here’s how the process works. If you have decided you would like to ‘glamp’ in the region, you must first select a caravan park/site that best suits the type of holiday you have in mind. I chose the Ningaloo Lighthouse Holiday Park mainly because it was one of the only caravan parks with availability however it turned out to be an excellent choice and I couldn’t have been happier with it.

The Ningaloo Lighthouse Holiday Park is situated halfway between the Exmouth Town Centre and the entrance to the Cape Range National Park. Another good option is to stay inside the Cape Range National Park however it important to note that all sites are non-powered and fresh running water is hard to find/non-existent. You will need to confirm availability in your chosen location prior to booking the caravan or camper trailer through Unplug Rentals.

Should you choose a non powered site, everything on board the caravan will work except for the microwave, the electric hot plate (although the 3 gas hot plates would work), and the air conditioning. Note: the fridge runs on gas. All power points run on 240V which means you would need power however there are multiple USB docks that work without 240V power.

I honestly cannot say how amazing the caravan (the Vantasea) was. Sascha, the owner of Unplug Rentals met me on arrival at Ningaloo Lighthouse Caravan Park and had the caravan all set up ready to go! After a brief familiarisation with the caravan and its features, I was all set ready for my glamping experience.

The team at Unplug Rentals had thought of absolutely everything I could have needed for my stay in Exmouth and the service was top notch! They have set the bar very high for my first experience of Exmouth and I can’t wait to return!
